PROGRAM OVERVIEW

The Masters in Coaching Education program is a lock-step, cohort based program that can be completed in 24-months including three face-to-face residencies. Its curriculum contains 50 quarter hours of course work in 12 didactic classes and practicum experience. Each cohort will have 20-25 students.

The three required residencies will take place on either the Ohio University campus or a designated place during the program. The first is a one-week orientation residency that kicks off the program. All three residencies are held in the summer months (June, July or August). Residencies are intense face-to-face learning experiences. The focus of the residencies includes: introducing new courses, completing current courses, assessing students’ learning, and working on skill development and knowledge that is best learned in a face-to-face environment. Residencies also give the students and the faculty an opportunity to “get to know each other” in a way that provides the basis for a successful online learning experience.

Between residencies, the students will collaborate with their fellow participants and with the faculty on the OUWB’s intranet to complete the required coursework. A culminating final project, that is initially developed in PESS 608 will be presented to program faculty prior to graduation in the final residency.
