I have taken a number of graduate courses. Can I transfer those credits to this program?
No. This is a lockstep program in which all participants admitted into the program during the same year will start the program together (in the same cohort) at the same time and complete the required courses in a sequence.
Do we complete all the courses online?
The participants in the program will complete most of the courses online. However, they will be required to attend three high-intensity residencies to be held at the Ohio University campus in Athens, Ohio. During the residency, the participants will have the opportunity to interact with the program faculty and other classmates face-to-face and complete a course. The first two residencies last approximately six days and the last one about two days. There will be some interaction and work completed during the residencies at Ohio University in Athens, Ohio and the USOC Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs.
How long do the residencies last?
Residency 1: Will be held in Athens, Ohio and will begin at 3:00PM on Sunday, July 13th. It will conclude on Thursday, July 17th. at 12:00 noon.
Residency 2: Will be scheduled to be held at the USOC Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Co. in the summer of 2009.
Residency 3: Will be held in Athens, Ohio and will begin at 8:30 on Wednesday June 9, 2010. It will run for two days.
Graduation is Friday, June 11, 2010 at 9:30AM.
How long does it take to complete the program?
It will take approximately twenty-four (24) months to finish the program.
What is the cost of this program?
Tuition modifications are being developed. Contact Dr. Dave Carr for details regarding program fees. Dr. Carr may be reached at 740-593-4651 or via e-mail at carrd@ohio.edu.
Do you allow participants to take a few, or a majority of the courses, but not all of the courses required of the whole program?
No. See the answer for question #1 for details.
Can I attend only the first residency without attending the two subsequent ones?
Participants will complete a course during each of the first two residencies and present a research project just prior to graduation. Therefore, attending all the residencies is extremely important for them.
Must I attend the residencies?
YES! - Courses will be completed at the first two residencies and a presentation to the faculty on your research project will be part of the
third residency just before graduation.
