Scott J. Smith, Ph.D., CAADirector Master of Science in Administration Programs Central Michigan University (989) 774-2859 Mount Pleasant, Michigan E-mail: Scott.J.Smith@cmich.edu Scott Smith is a graduate of Bluffton College in Bluffton, Ohio with a B.S. in biology. He also holds three graduate degrees; an M.Ed. in Physical Education from the University of Nevada-Las Vegas, an Ed. Spec. in Educational Leadership from the University of Missouri and a Ph.D. in Sport Management, also from Missouri. Scott Smith's career in education includes teaching, coaching and administration at both the K-12 level and in higher education. After teaching biology and general science in Ohio, he began his administrative career as an assistant principal and athletic director in Missouri.In June 1994, Smith became the District Director of Athletics for the Wichita, Kansas Public Schools, a position he held for five years before moving to the Dayton, Ohio public schools as an Assistant Superintendent in charge of Health, Physical Education and Athletics for the entire district. While doing graduate work at Missouri, Smith also worked in the Mizzou Athletic Department for three years and in the Middle Level Leadership Center as a research assistant for one year. In August 2003, Dr. Smith joined the Physical Education and Sport faculty at Central Michigan University in Mount Pleasant, Michigan. An assistant professor, he currently directs the Sport Management program and teaches research methods and sport management classes while advising both undergraduate and graduate students. His research is concentrated primarily in the realm of interscholastic athletics. He has written and published several articles and made numerous state and national presentations. He is currently a member of the Publications Committee for the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association (NIAAA).
