Master's Program in Athletic Administration

Overview

The Ohio University School of Recreation and Sport Sciences started the first graduate sports administration program in the nation in 1966. The program has since been recognized as one of the premier professional training institutions for candidates seeking careers in the field of sports administration. Graduates have successfully competed for and taken leadership positions in university athletic departments, with professional sports teams, and in other sports business-related settings.

To respond to the needs and interests of interscholastic athletic professionals, the Ohio University School of Recreation and Sport Sciences has partnered with the NIAAA to offer a Master of Science in Recreation and Sport Sciences with a concentration in athletic administration. This partnership between Ohio University and the NIAAA ensures that the education you receive is practical and focused on issues that you, as an interscholastic athletic professional, are facing and will face in the coming years. While the program incorporates important theory, it emphasizes the application of that theory in a practical and relevant way. Upon completion of the master's program in Athletic Administration, you may also receive your Certified Athletic Administrator (CAA) designation.

Ohio University is a pioneer in the development and delivery of high quality online education through its Ohio University Without Boundaries (OUWB) unit. OUWB has won numerous awards and recognition for its blended approach to learning. Ohio University brings that same quality learning experience to the master’s program in Athletic Administration.
