The Ohio University MLEA online master's program is a cohort program lasting approximately two years. As a participant, you'll begin the program together with your peers and work collectively as a learning community throughout the program. Likewise, there is a faculty team that works with you throughout the entire program. You’ll form a network that will support you in your learning efforts, advise you on work issues, and continue even after you receive your degree.

There are three in-person sessions held on the Ohio University campus in Athens, Ohio, during the program. The sessions held in the summer last approximately one-week while the December sessions take place over a weekend. The first session will be held July 15 - 20, 2007.

Sessions are intense face-to-face learning experiences with your fellow participants and faculty. During these in-person sessions, we'll focus on start-up of projects, do learning assessments, and work on some skill areas that are best learned in a face-to-face environment. In-person sessions also give us an opportunity to “get to know each other” in a way that is not as possible in a purely online learning format.

All in-person sessions are held at the Ohio University campus in Athens, Ohio, approximately 65 miles southeast of Columbus. You are responsible for your own travel costs to and from Athens, including accommodations and meals. More information on accommodations will be provided by the Ohio University Without Boundaries staff.

While at Ohio University, you will convene daily. Be prepared to work long hours to maximize the benefits of this time with your fellow participants and faculty members.
