The Healthcare Risk Management Certification Program combines
the power of project-centered action learning with
the convenience of an online education. This learning methodology was originally
developed for the Ohio
University MBA Without Boundaries program, a widely respected
and award-winning approach to education.
The six-month program focuses on three areas:
- Responding to Risks in the Healthcare System
- Developing a Proactive Risk Management Program
- Risk Financing
The program is built around two major action-learning projects, with the work on each lasting three
months. The projects are team-based, allowing participants to learn how to collaborate effectively as
members of a high performance team. The projects create a “need to know” that drives learning in the
three areas of content. They also provide practice in the application of that content in realistic situations.
Our residency location on Polaris Parkway in Columbus, Ohio serves as the "nerve center" for the program. Participants convene three times during the six months. These three-day residencies provide face-to-face interaction
among faculty and participants and provide opportunity for project introduction, skill building workshops,
and project deliverables.
Between residencies, students
collaborate online with other team members to develop the
required deliverables and also take part in scenario
discussions with program faculty on the OHIC/OUWB intranet.
